My jewelry is my artistic outlet.  A combination of vintage and contemporary glass beads, lampwork beads by artists from all over the U.S.A and organic semi-precious gemstones all find their way into my work in various forms.  I usually find myself inspired by one bead and work my way out from that bead.  My art has developed from a monochromatic color scheme to experimenting with many colors combining colors that you wouldn't ordinarily expect to see together.

"She's Out There"  so named after my science fiction novel as yet unpublished.  This piece is completely hand beaded on leather with pearl and paua shell cabachons.  Look closely and you can see the fictional nebula and galaxies.  Completely wearable and comfortable soft leather with counterweighted clasp design.   Neckpiece is backed with soft sueded leather as well.

The ceramic goddess pendant was an inspiration and I knew I had to come up with a fantastic setting for the piece.  A woven 8 strand necklace was the answer.  If you look closely you can see a lot of vintage beads; picasso beads, faceted crystal wheels, two tone topaz squarish elongated I-don't-know-whats . . . the longer you look at it the more you see.  It's a powerful piece for a powerful woman!

The herringbone or Ndebele stitch is one of my favorites.  It is so incredible either flat in this necklace or in the "round" in "Hummingbird Vine" below.  This piece is stitched with one end to the other, allowing the graduated change in bead sizes from inner to outer create the gentle curve.  This piece is worn close to the neck.

I had this idea several years ago, after creating "Coral Reef" 2004.  The hummingbird "slightly off centerpiece" is a Tagua nut bead from Red Horse Ranch.  The other beads have been collected over the past two years, from various sources.  I am especially proud of the way the beaded flowers match the carved flower in the nut.   NFS

I finally finished it!  My Dahlia necklace, design by Laura McCabe.  A spiral necklace with scads and scads of embellishments all along the length.   Centerpiece is hand beaded on leather, backed on leather.
